The island of Formentera is located in the Mediterranean and is part of the Balearic archipelago. Along with Ibiza, it forms the Pitiusas Islands. The two islands are just 2 nautical miles (3.9 km) apart, but the two ports are about 10 miles (19 km) from each other.
Formentera does not have an airport and is therefore only accessible by sea from the nearby island of Ibiza, which can be reached by air or by sea from several ports on the Spanish mainland: Valencia, Barcelona, and Denia.
The maritime transport company Balearia (www.balearia.com) also directly connects the port of Denia to Formentera. From Barcelona and Valencia, you can reach Ibiza and then take another ferry to Formentera.
Ibiza is now a major international airport, with extensive connections to many European cities. During the winter months, you may need to consider a stopover in Madrid, Barcelona, Palma, or Valencia. In the summer months, there are numerous direct flights, primarily operated by low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, EasyJet, Vueling, Meridiana, Neos, and many others. During the high season, major carriers like ITA, Iberia, Lufthansa, Air Berlin, Eurowings, and others also offer direct flights. The wide range of options is further complemented by numerous charter flights.
Once you land in Ibiza, you can reach the port by taxi in about 10 minutes, at a cost of approximately €18.00. Alternatively, you can take the bus, which takes around 30 minutes (or longer during peak traffic), with a ticket costing about €3.60 per person.
The ferry company Trasmapi, with which we have an agreement, offers discounted prices when you book through our website. Additionally, they provide a free bus service with online purchases. You can find the schedules by checking line 10 at this link: www.ibizabus.com
